  • What is a CPO vehicle (certified pre-owned) and how does it compare to a standard used car?

AUTHOR: CARLEADO DATE: December 6, 2020

When shopping for a used car, you will likely come across cars that are tagged "Certified Pre-Owned” or "CPO”. What makes these cars different from the rest of the used car pool is that these cars pass through a rigorous inspection program administered by factory certified mechanics before they are placed on sale. Any damaged or worn parts that are found in the inspection, are repaired before the cars are put up for sale. In order for a car to be eligible for the CPO designation, that it must be in excellent condition, generally not older than 4 years old, be mechanically and cosmetically sound and have low mileage. A car marked "CPO” comes with an additional limited warranty fully backed by the manufacturer just as if it were being sold new.
